New York, NY, August 6, 2010 – KKR & Co. L.P. (NYSE: KKR) announced that funds and clients affiliated with KKR Asset Management LLC (KAM), a unit of KKR, led a consortium including TCW/ Crescent Mezzanine and Sankaty Advisors in providing approximately $470 million mezzanine financing as part of the acquisition of RBS WorldPay by Advent International Corp. and Bain Capital Partners LLC. KKR began mezzanine investing in 2005 and formalized its global mezzanine business in 2008. Affiliate funds or clients managed by the unit of KKR have provided mezzanine financing in six transactions in 2010.
"We are delighted to be supporting Advent and Bain Capital in their acquisition of RBS WorldPay. Both firms have been extremely thoughtful in understanding, evaluating and structuring a very complicated transaction and we are glad we could support them in doing so. We believe our unique team, resources and focus allowed us to work in close partnership with the sponsors from the beginning of the transaction process and ultimately to provide committed financing in a tight time frame when we were asked to do so. Partnership with sponsors and deliverability on commitments are key elements of our business strategy and this transaction is a great example of how we put these ideas into practice," Frederick M. Goltz, head of KKR's mezzanine business, said.
